Michigan Community Association Institute Continuing Education Seminar:  How to Avoid Common Pitfalls of the Fair Housing Act (Farmington Hills, MI)

This seminar will cover the scope of the Federal Fair Housing Act and the protections that it affords based upon race, religion, sex, disability and familial status.  The seminar will discuss the differences between administrative complaints and lawsuits brought under the Fair Housing Act and potential liability that could result from failing to comply with the Fair Housing Act.  The seminar will discuss current cases that define the scope of reasonable accommodations for the disabled, what constitutes familial discrimination, a community association’s responsibility to prevent a hostile environment, what constitutes religious discrimination and what constitutes sex discrimination.
