Kevin Hirzel will honorably be starting his 2 year term on the CAI National Government & Public Affairs committee beginning January 1, 2019. He is proud to be a part of this great organization. CAI advances excellence in public policy through advocacy before legislative bodies, regulatory bodies and the courts by availing an extensive network of state legislative action committees, Government & Public Affairs committee, lobbyists and staff. When an issue arises that impacts CAI members, CAI develops a public policy position to guide volunteer advocates and staff in their advocacy efforts. Because CAI is a membership organization, any of the more than 40,000 current members can propose a public policy for consideration by the G&PA Committee Board of Directors.
Another congratulations is in order for Hirzel Law, PLC member Matt Heron on being appointed to the CAI National Amicus Curiae Review Committee for a second year term! CAI’s legal activities involve amicus curiae,or “friend of the court” briefs, that CAI files in federal or state cases that address issues of significant importance in community association law. CAI’s Amicus Curiae Review committee evaluates proposals for briefs and makes recommendations to CAI’s Board of Trustees regarding the appropriate level of involvement in any given case. Amicus curiae briefs allow CAI to educate a court about important legal issues in cases related directly to the community association industry. The amicus brief submissions give CAI the opportunity as an organization to help shape the outcome of matters of importance to community association law.
