Kevin Hirzel Wins 2020 CAI Law Seminar Best Manuscript Award

Kevin Hirzel, Esq., the Managing Member of Hirzel Law, PLC was recently honored by the College of Community Association Lawyers (“CCAL”) and received the Best Manuscript Award for the 2020 Community Associations Institute’s (“CAI”) National  Law Seminar.  Mr. Hirzel, a CCAL fellow, was joined by Elina Gilbert Esq. in preparing the manuscript and presenting “How Legal is it anyway?  Tips for Dealing with Recreational and Medicinal Marijuana Use in Community Associations” at the CAI Law Seminar in Las Vegas in January of 2020.  This was the second year in a row that Mr. Hirzel received this distinguished honor as he was also the co-author of “Religion in Community Associations:  Fair Housing or Free Speech, which won best manuscript at the CAI Law Seminar in New Orleans in 2019.

Each year, the CAI Law Seminar Planning Committee reviews numerous presentations from community association attorneys throughout the United States to determine the breakout sessions for the following year’s event. In addition to presentation slides, the final selections of only 24 presenters each submit a comprehensive manuscript to accompany their session, citing case studies and offering templates that are showcased at the CAI National Law Seminar each year. After the Law Seminar, a subcommittee of distinguished community association attorneys analyze all of the manuscripts and nominates the Best Manuscript of the Law Seminar for approval from the full Planning Committee and the CCAL Board of Governors. The Best Manuscript sets the benchmark for all future Law Seminar submissions.
